I have loved animals of all kinds since I was a little girl. I always had pets growing up, my first pet was a hamster whom I loved and took great care of. However, there was always something about dogs that I loved. They are very smart and have similar qualities as humans do. I understand how important they are to us which is why I found my passion in caring for them. I promise I will look after your pet as if they were one of my own.
I am currently back in school for occupational therapy. I have my BA in sociology and A.S degree in business and companion dog studies from Bergin University of Canine Studies located in California. At Bergin, I was assigned several dogs to train as service dogs. The first dog that I had, decided that being a service dog was not in her future. There was always a connection between her and I however, which brought me to my decision of adopting her after graduation. I went on to train her to be a certified therapy dog, so she could use her skills towards improving peoples lives. She has her Canine Good Citizen certificate from the American Kennel Club as well. While I attended Bergin University, I also obtained experience in the whelping of two litters of puppies along with training them to become service dogs. I trained both puppies as well as adult dogs. I also had the opportunity to be a part of their Dogs Helping Veterans program, where we trained veterans who had PTSD on how to train service dogs. It was a very rewarding experience and showed me the variety of ways of how humans and dogs can benefit from each other. I am familiar with a variety of dog breeds along with their temperaments and size. I have worked at a few different kennels along with a doggy daycare. I have volunteered for a nonprofit organization who rescued blind dogs and found homes for them. I fostered a blind cocker spaniel for six months until placing him at his forever home. I have also volunteered for another nonprofit organization that trains service dogs for children with disabilities. I would love to apply my passion for animals towards helping you with your special companion.
